The Hungarian Studies faculty and students of the Department of Central Eurasian Studies have recently hosted a festive Mikulás Nap celebration, bringing the warmth of this beloved Hungarian tradition of the holidays to our campus. The event was held on Dec 6th and was led by our award-winning Hungarian faculty, Senior Lecturer Valeria Varga, together with our amazing Fulbright Language Teaching Assistant Heni Papp, and supported by the wonderful Hungarian Cultural Association, a student organization headed by Brittany Jánosi. Students and community members, and most notably kids, enjoyed a cheerful afternoon filled with treats, songs, and cultural activities, and Hungarian Santa - an occasion that highlighted both the fun and the cultural significance of Mikulás Day in Hungarian heritage. The celebration offered a joyful reminder of the importance of community, generosity, and tradition during the holiday season.
